Nicola Edmonds

  • Principal Psychologist

Nicola Edmonds started her career in the disability sector in 2014, moving into the out of home care space in 2016. Nicola is the clinical director of Edmonds Psychology which opened it’s doors on the Central Coast 2021 providing accessible mental health treatment for individuals with a variety of needs. 
 

Nicola has extensive experience working with the most vulnerable individuals in our community working with disability agencies, child protection and out of home care organisations. Nicola has extensive experience working with complex mental health presentations, supporting individuals who are at risk of suicide and survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse and traumatic experiences. She has a strong clinical interest supporting individuals with personality disorders. Nicola provides authentic, non-judgmental evidence based psychological treatment inclusive of EMDR and behaviour support interventions.
 

Nicola is a trained facilitator of Therapeutic Crisis (TCI) and CARE creating conditions for change by Cornell University. She is an Advanced/ Specialist Behaviour support practitioner with expertise in the area of trauma.
 

In addition to therapy work, Nicola has years of experience in providing neuro-affirming assessments helping people understand their strengths and challenges. Nicola prides herself in providing comprehensive neurodiverse assessments exploring ADHD, Autism, PTSD and Intellectual Disabilities.
 

Nicola is an approved supervisor with the Australian Practitioner Health Regulation and can provide provisional psychologist’s clinical supervision on their pathway to registration. She also provides organisations clinical supervision in regard to trauma informed clinical practises and high risk complex clinical presentations. She is an associate member of Australian Psychological society and currently sits on the local Central Coast APS board as Chair of the local committee.
 

Nicola holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Newcastle (2016) and is a registered psychologist.

 

When Nicola is not working she enjoys spending time at the gym and being an active part of her local community.

Nicole Boeckx

Nicole has always been fascinated by human behaviour and understanding the complex interaction between our brains and our behaviours.
 

Nicole has extensive experience working with vulnerable young people in the out-of-home care sector, and it is from her work in this space that she developed a strong passion for advocating for and supporting individuals who have experienced trauma. Since starting at Edmonds Psychology as a provisional psychologist in early 2023, Nicole has continued to build on this passion through her clinical work.

Nicole is also a Behaviour Support Practitioner and has provided behaviour support interventions and psychological support to a range of children, young people, and adults to help enhance their wellbeing. She can also provide support as a workers compensation counsellor, assisting individuals to navigate recovery and return-to-work processes following injury. Nicole’s approach is warm, non-judgmental, trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and neuro-affirming. She is committed to delivering evidence-based interventions that support individuals to flourish as their authentic selves.
 

Nicole has a strong interest in supporting young people and young adults, particularly those transitioning from out-of-home care and navigating the shift from adolescence into adulthood. She values building strong, trusting relationships and works collaboratively to support the development of independence, emotional regulation, and life skills. Nicole is passionate about empowering individuals during this critical stage of life, helping them build confidence, identity, and a sense of stability as they move toward greater autonomy.

Nicole can provide clinical assessments, particularly in the areas of autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. She is passionate about providing thorough, trauma-informed assessments that support accurate and meaningful diagnoses. She is dedicated to helping individuals better understand their strengths and challenges, with the goal of guiding appropriate support and intervention pathways.
 

Nicole holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science and a Master’s degree in Professional Psychology.
 

When she is not working, Nicole enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling, and binge-watching shows on Netflix.

Rebecca Burgess

Rebecca has been working at Edmonds Psychology since 2024, providing counselling, assessment, and behaviour support services.


Rebecca began her clinical career volunteering with Lifeline as a digital crisis supporter. In this role, she provided immediate, short-term support to children, adolescents, and adults experiencing crisis and distress. Her work at Lifeline strengthened her ability to respond with empathy, clarity, and effectiveness in high-pressure situations.
 

At Edmonds Psychology, Rebecca provides counselling to children, young people, and adults from a variety of backgrounds. She has a particular interest in supporting families and works from a collaborative, strengths-based model of care. Rebecca has a strong interest in supporting young children aged 3–5 years with neurodivergent presentations. She works closely with parents and caregivers, using a play-based and creative approach to ensure children experience therapy as safe, enjoyable, and engaging.

Rebecca is passionate about creating a safe and enriching space for all individuals in her care. Her approach is neuro-affirming and guided by her values of empathy and respect. She is committed to empowering and supporting individuals who are at risk of suicide and has a strong interest in delivering high-risk, evidence-based interventions.
 

Rebecca also has experience delivering behaviour support interventions across a range of settings, including schools and Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes. She works closely and collaboratively with families, educators, and broader support networks to ensure consistent, person-centred care that promotes positive outcomes and enhances quality of life.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science and a Master’s degree in Professional Psychology and is a registered Psychologist.

Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys training her two dogs, Kylo and Kenshi, and occasionally participating in dog shows with them, as well as catching up with friends and family.

Ray Cornwell

Ray began his career in the disability sector, working closely with children and young people with neurodivergent needs and behavioural challenges. After five years in this field, he transitioned into the Out of Home Care (OOHC) system where he spent five years leading the clinical therapeutic team. Ray joined Edmonds Psychology in 2024 and recently has opened up capacity in a full-time role. 
 

Ray has extensive experience working with some of the most vulnerable members of our community, including sexual abuse survivors, individuals with significant trauma histories, high-risk suicidal presentations, people experiencing aggression and emotional dysregulation, and those with complex mental health presentations.

​

His approach is deeply person-centred, grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with meeting individuals where they are and empowering them to find their own motivation for growth. Ray is a trained trauma-informed EMDR clinician and integrates a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to support clients in the therapy room.

​

Ray has a strong passion for supporting late-diagnosed neurodivergent adults and members of the LGBTQI+ community. He is committed to providing care that is both gender-affirming and neuro-affirming, creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where individuals feel seen, understood, and supported.

​

Ray is a registered Behaviour Support Practitioner who works holistically with individuals and their support networks to develop tailored, person-centred strategies. Ray considers the impact of past experiences and the functional drivers behind complex behaviours, with a strong focus on building positive skills to reduce behaviours of concern. 

​

Ray within OOHC has served as a member of the Restrictive Practice Panel. He focused on the reduction and ethical oversight of restrictive practices for young people in intensive therapeutic care homes. He is committed to ensuring that any restrictions in place are the least restrictive necessary, with a strong emphasis on balancing duty of care with the dignity of risk.

Ray holds a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Newcastle (2017) and is a registered general psychologist.

​

Outside of his professional life, Ray is a self-described “collector of skills.” His diverse hobbies include circus arts, fire twirling, Latin dance, parkour, photography, and athletics—reflecting his lifelong passion for learning, movement, and creative expression.

Danielle Shonk

  • Clinical Adminstration Support

Danielle holds over 20 years of customer service experience, bringing a wealth of knowledge, professionalism, and a genuine passion for helping others. Danielle is known for her warm and friendly approach, she creates a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who connects with our clinic.

 

Danielle’s calm and empathetic nature aligns closely with our values, ensuring that clients feel understood, respected, and at ease from their very first interaction.

 

Whether assisting with appointments or providing administrative support to our clinicians, Danielle is dedicated to maintaining a smooth, balanced, and positive experience within the clinic. Danielle is a valued member of our team who is passionate about supporting others and giving back to the community, helping to create a welcoming and safe environment for all.

 

Outside of work, Danielle enjoys spending quality time making memories with family and friends and loves outdoor adventures.
